A few emotions can only be expressed by your eyes, some by your smile and another few by your gestures. But there's one thing that can convey any and every feeling that you have - DANCE.
Today's post is not to write about various Dance forms and how they depict the Bhav, rasa, Natya etc. I want to share what Dance means to me and when does it actually come to me.
I belong to the exception set of Middle Path people. It won't be an exaggeration to say that I feel happy for no reason and the next moment, I might find myself mired in misery due to a single troubling thought. And some of my friends, I am glad to share this, sail in the same boat with me. And I find it absolutely normal.
Sometimes, Dance strikes me hard!
Today was one such day. Lying on my comfortable bed, packed nicely in a blanket (evenings are now cold in Punjab), I was listening to 'Deewani Mastani' on 9XM channel while occasionally checking out my phone for the white notification light. The song switched on to 'Gulaabo' from Shaandaar and there was I, on the Desi Dance Floor, dancing madly to the tune. I was so immersed in dance that I, now, am unable to figure out as to what had happened in a fraction of a second that flung the blanket off and threw me onto the floor. I had no idea where my arms were going or where my feet were. This is something comparable to the Baraati Dance, though much more decent!
The playlist was good. Next came 'Sare Mainu kiu Sharabi kehnde ne', then 'Ye chhori badi Drama Queen hai!' followed by 'Tung Tung'. Being a Punjabi, I have a positive bias towards Bhangra and I am quite good at it. While I was enjoying the complete immersion, I had to attend a call. And after that call ended, it was all still, as if I were sitting all along and no Dance ever happened. Thorough silence, followed by another round of silence and so on. No sweat on body, no Beats in the heart!
I won't let out the details of the call. :)
